Paul-Émile Bécat (1885-1960) was a French painter, printmaker, and engraver who won first prize in the 1920 Prix de Rome. A student of Gabriel Ferrier and François Flameng, he first exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1913. After travels through the Congo, Gabon, and Sudan, he turned in 1933 to specialising in dry point, particularly for his erotic works. He is now chiefly remembered for his portraits of French writers and for his contributions to erotic art.
