This beautiful watercolour study by British artist Paul Banning, depicts a dry mountain valley with spars acacia trees, captured in delicate pastel washes. The painting is monogramed to the lower right-hand corner. Well presented in a double bevelled mount.

Watercolour artist born in Port of Spain Trinidad who attended Clifton College, Bristol, 1946-52. During the period 1953-57, he gained a National Diploma in Design in furniture design. Following National Service, he continued his studies at the West of England College of Art. He did not turn to painting as a full-time profession until 1986 and in 2002 he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. In 2005 membership of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours followed and soon after he became a council member of both societies. Banning has also shown at the Royal Watercolour Society, Wapping Group of Artists, Armed Forces Art Society, Chelsea Art Society, Farnham Art Society and in 2011 he was awarded the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours Turner Watercolour award and medal. He has shown at galleries in the United States of America and Holland and at the Tryon Gallery, London.
