An expressive oil painting by the artist Pamela Chard. The scene depicts a figure sat a desk, looking down at a book, next to a vase of white flowers. Unsigned. Presented in a grey frame, as shown. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, some surface dirt, minor marks and areas of craquelure. Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration. Small scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

Pamela Chard (1926-2003) was a British artist and teacher, married to fellow artist William Chard. The couple met at the Redfern Gallery in Cork Street, London. They went on to study under several artists such as Henry Moore (1898-1986), Ceri Richards (1903-1971) and the painter Vivian Pitchforth (1895-1982). They were both active members of 'The Arts Council of Great Britain', and exhibited with the London Group and Drian Gallery.
