Two exquisite mid 19th Century miniature portraits in watercolour. The children are in their finest clothes to have their portraits painted. The little boy wears a high ruffled collar and black jacket, holding a blue book in his hands. The little girl wears a fine light blue dress with a pink ribbon tied around the waist. In her hand she holds a red book. The artist captures the children's delicate features in fine detail. Sulis Fine Art acquired these portraits along with two others by the same hand of the mother and father of the family. The two children and mother are painted all facing towards the left, so that, when displayed together, they would be looking at their father/husband who is facing to the right. On paper.
