A fine and delicately detailed late 19th Century watercolour landscape, depicting the Egyptian desert with camel riders, and Ancient Egyptian ruins. These include distant columns and a towering temple entrance. With a light palette, the scene is rendered with an atmospheric sense of adventure and travel. Well-presented in a dark wood frame, as shown. Signed. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing to the surface and the backing paper. Also some light surface dirt. The frame has only minor scuffing to the corners.

Artist Biography
Otto Tilche (1821-1894) was a painter in watercolour of desert and eastern scenes. This prolific artist usually painted small pairs of watercolours often showing Bedouins and camels in the desert, or Nile scenes. He also painted under the name of 'A. Calvert'. He signed his work O. Tilche or with his initials on small sketches.
