A very fine and delicately detailed original 19th Century watercolour with graphite details and bodycolour, depicting the caricature of a gentleman in white tie. The artist clearly had an adept proficiency in the subject, imparting a distinct sense of character. Well-presented in a gilt wooden frame and mount, with acanthus leaf corner mouldings, as shown. Unsigned. On wove.
Condition
In very good condition, for a picture of this age. There is some surface discolouration to the paper, and two very tiny 2mm tears, to the upper and left edges. The frame is in fine condition.
