M. K. Walton - 1854 Watercolour The Debutante
Description
A fine watercolour full body portrait of a beautiful, young debutante in a ball gown and pearl jewelry. The young lady is descending a curved stone staircase, resting on the balustrade. The artist has used an unusual technique of pin pricks to the paper to create the intricate lace effect on the hem of the dress. This elegant portrait shows a young woman of great beauty and poise before coming out in society as an eligible woman.
The painting has a corner that has been cut from the original paper stuck to the back with the artist's signature and date of creation. The painting has been presented in a contemporary black framing with perspex glazing and a pale yellow mount.
On wove.Condition
Painting has heavy discolouration and has lost most of its original colour. There is a crease to the upper left corner. The frame and mount are in fine condition.
