A simplistic yet bold, still life composition by the listed Swedish artist Olle Mattsson. The scene depicts a single Amaryllis stem with two ruby red flower heads, supported in a turquoise vase. Two ripe apples sit to the foot of the vase, replicating the colour comb of the the show stopping flower above. The composition has been signed and dated (1945) to the lower left. Well-presented in a contemporary gilt-effect frame. On board.
Condition
There is a light yellow stain on the surface of the painting, falling over the lime green flower stem. A small scratch mark can be seen to the lower right of the composition. The gilt-effect frame is in fine condition.
