Niccola Santirelli Delegro - French School 1815 Sanguine Classical Head Study
Description
A very fine early 19th century study of a classical bust. The artist has wonderfully captured the subject with crosshatched lines and a delicate but precise handling of the medium. To the reverse of the drawing, written in ink is the date in French '15th April 1815'. The study is excellently presented in a white mount and Hogarth style black frame with gilt detail. Unsigned. The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor foxing. 2cm closed tear to the right side of the paper.
