A thoroughly charming 19th Century naive English School oil showing a rural scene with a man and his son returning home to their snow covered cottage with bundles of kindling on the shoulders and their faithful little dog following behind. The young boys red cloak adds a wonderful splash of colour to the wintry scene. The painting is unsigned and presented in a 20th Century gilt frame. On wood panel.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and darkening. There is some craquelure to the surface. There are some shallow age cracks across the surface of the panel as seen. The frame has some scuffing and a chip to the right edge.
