Muriel Rose workedin oil, pen, ink and ceramics. She was born and lived in London and was encouraged to pursue an artistic career by her father. After World War II she worked part time in drawing offices and studied at Richmond, Kensington and St. Mary's School of Art. Muriel later took a teaching course in ceramics, a profession which she continued until retirement.
