Artist Biography

Jean Moyreau (1690-1762) was a French engraver and publisher of prints. He was born in Orleans, Saint-Paul parish. Having gone up to Paris, he became a pupil of Bon Boullogne. He exhibited at the Salon between 1737 and 1761. He mainly engraved the work of Antoine Watteau (1735) and Philips Wouwermans (1619-1668), on the one hand as part of the translation of the cabinet of Pierre Crozat and on the other via Jean de Jullienne. Around 1739 he was said to be the King's engraver and had a workshop in rue Galande. He died in Paris on October 26, 1762.
