A fine aquatint with etched details, by the Australian artist Molly O'Shea (1890-1970), depicting Lennox Bridge in Parramatta, Western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The artist has a clear proficiency in the medium, creating both a sense of depth and reflection. Signed below the plate in graphite, and inscribed '3/60, Lennox Bridge - Parramatta'. Signed and inscribed. On wove.

Condition

In good condition overall. There is some mount burn from previous mounts, and tape to the edges of the paper.

Artist Biography

Although born in Melbourne, Molly O'Shea came to favour Sydney's bays and beaches. Landscapes and floral arrangements were her forte, but she was also awarded the Francis Zabel Prize in 1932 for a bookplate design at the International Exhibition of Bookplates in Sydney. She was a member of several artist societies and was hung in the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW.
