The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Signs of wear and small losses present on the gilt-effect frame.

Artist Biography
Joseph Kirkpatrick was born in Liverpool and was known for his paintings and etchings. He studied at Liverpool School of Art with John Finnie and at the Académie Julian in Paris under Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier in 1893.
He travelled widely living in London, Arundel in Sussex and in 1903 travelled to the West Indies. Kirkpatrick who was a member of the Liver Sketching Club and the Liverpool Academy of Arts exhibited many works at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and at the RBSA, RA, RCamA and ROI. A painting by him is in the collection of Liverpool Bluecoat School.
His death was recorded at Worthing, Sussex in March 1936.
