A fine early 19th-century portrait of a young woman in 1830s attire, her centre-parted hair adorned with silky red ribbons. She wears a sumptuous black velvet dress trimmed with delicate white lace and complemented by a glittering long guard chain. Rendered with exquisitely delicate and refined brushwork. Well presented behind glass in a handsome, leather-bound maroon case. On a bone-like substrate.
Condition
There is a fine crack to the left of the substrate. Very light abrasions throughout. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. Some wear to the case, including scuffs throughout.
