This striking oil by Milio Burquin depicts three fishermen taking a break from the day job. Sitting with their nets and ice box, the three men look displeased with their catch and stumped for conversation. Bare branches and a blanket of snow have been painted in an impasto style, matching that of the men's winter clothing and oil-fuelled boats. The oil has been signed by the artist to the lower right. Well presented in a decorative red and gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
A large patch repair and two smaller repairs have been made to the reverse of the canvas, concealed by overpainting to the front. The canvas dips slightly in this area. The picture frame shows light wear to the edges.
