Mid 19th Century Watercolour - Josephine
Description
A very fine and delicate watercolour portrait of a Victorian woman named Josephine. The artist has rendered the face in exquisite detail, suing the minuscule brushstrokes typical for watercolour portraiture of this era. The beautiful woman has a steady gaze in a big hazel eyes and her hair has been elegantly swept up and plaited. The artist has inscribed "Josephine" to the lower right.
The portrait has been presented in a gilt frame with a gold mount with oval window.
On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing across the surface. There is a small abrasion to the surface of the wove at the lower left and the frame has general surface scuffing.
