The portrait shows a masterful hand with the medium, with delicate, restrained details in the boy's face. The portrait has a similar style to the early 19th Century painter Sir Thomas Lawrence PRA FRS (1769–1830).
The painting is signed illegibly to the reverse of the paper and presented in a contemporary gilt frame with black mount and glazing.
