Brockway was a painter and author, born in London. He studied under Simon Bussy in France and after World War II he decided to take up painting professionally. He furthered his studies at Farnham School of Art, 1946-50 and Cheltenham School of Art, 1950 and at Ruskin School of Drawing, Oxford, 1951- 54. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Society of British Artists and New English Art Club of which he was a member, having also held several solo exhibitions in London at the Walker's Gallery and elsewhere. He works in oil and tempera but prefers watercolour for landscape painting.
