Artist Biography
Evelyn Meryl Watts (1910-1992) was a painter in a variety of mediums. The daughter of a paper merchant in Blackheath, London, Watts attended the Blackheath School of Art. Her tutors there included Reginald Brill, John Edgar Platt, James Woodford and William Clause. Watts exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and widely abroad with British Council and Society of Women Artists. British Council and Contemporary Art Society hold examples. She was a member of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society, Society of Graver-Printmakers in Colour and the Society of Graphic Fine Art. She lived for many years at Borth-y-Gest, Porthmadog, Gwynedd.
