Artist Biography
Mary Georgina Barton was a painter, born in Farndreg, County Louth, Ireland. At 34 she moved to London and studied at Westminster School of Art from 1895-98. She then moved to Rome to further her studies and to teach. She exhibited at the Paris Salon, Royal Hibernian Academy, Fine Art Society, Walker Art Gallery, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Fine Art Society and Women's International Art Club, of which she was a member. She travelled widely in Mexico, Canada, India and throughout Europe. Examples of her work are to be found in Dublin City Gallery and she was elected a member of the Society of Women Artists in 1911.
