Description

A dynamic 20th Century oil scene showing a group of cheesemakers in Amsterdam stacking up wheels of yellow cheese onto sledges. There is wonderful industrial movement in the painting with loose brushwork and suggestive areas of light and dark adding much atmosphere and dynamism. The artist has initialed and dated to the lower right corner and the painting has been presented in a contemporary gilt effect frame with scrolling foliate strap work. There is a label at the reverse with the artist's biography, name and title of the artwork. A further label indicates that this painting was, at some point, exhibited at the Royal Academy. On canvas board.

Condition

In fine condition. Some splitting to one of the corners of the frame.
