A farm and an avenue of trees is shown to the right, with far reaching views to the left, drawing the eye to the distant landscape beyond. The artist has a clear proficiency in the medium, with a command of depth and detail.
Well-presented in an ornate off-white swept frame with pronounced centre and corner ornamentation, as shown, with floral mouldings.
Signed. On canvas on stretchers.In very good condition overall. There is some minor surface discolouration, and inspection under UV light reveals some previous in-painting. The frame has some scuffing to the corners.

Marcus Holly Ford (1914-1989) was a landscape painter born in Hornchurch, Essex, the son of a violin teacher. He studied art privately and exhibited mainly at provincial galleries, holding several solo exhibitions including three at Frost & Reed, London. He was the President of the Upminster Art Society, President of the Essex Art Club and was a member of the Wapping Group. He later moved to Aldebrough and painted coastal scenes around Suffolk and Norfolk.
