Artist Biography
Albert Gleizes was a French painter and philosopher who played a key part of the foundation of Cubism as a recognised artistic style. He was a founding member of the Section d'or group of artists who centred their work around cubism and orphism. Alongside Jean Metzinger he wrote the first major theoretical paper on Cubism called 'Du Cubisme' and his work was greatly appreciated in Germany, particularly by the Bauhaus.
