Madge C. Fawkes (1881-1932) - Original 20th Century Oil. Signed lower left. Inscribed on the reverse with artist's address and the title " Sunshine in June". In a very decorative wooden frame with carved composite and gilt detail Signed. On board. Some surface dirt present to the paint surface. Inspection under UV light shows now sign of restoration. Cracks and losses to the frame.

Madeleine "Madge" Fawkes was an English landscape painter who lived and painted in Cornwall during the 1920s, studying at the Forbes School in Newlyn and also painting in Lamorna. During her time in Lamorna she was friends with Alfred Munnings' first wife Florence Carter Wood and Munning's friend Captain Gilbert Evans. She is recorded in the Lamorna Society and exhibited works at the Royal Academy and the Society of Women Artists.
