Artist Biography

Madeleine Flaschner was born in Paris in 1933, the daughter of painter Alexandre Flaschner (1903-1995). She began her artistic journey in the 1950s at Edouard Goerg's studio at the Grande Chaumière. She pursued formal training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, studying painting under Narbonne and engraving with Goerg. Her career gained momentum in 1956 when she co-founded the artistic group Pointe and Burin. During this period, she created numerous sketches capturing the vibrant behind-the-scenes life at the Medrano Circus. From 1957 to 1987, she enjoyed considerable success with multiple exhibitions throughout Paris. Her achievements culminated in 1988 with her nomination to the prestigious Salon d'Automne society, where she won the Medaille d'Or aux Artistes Français and received the Institut Chasseriau Prize. In 1993, she was elected to the committee of the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts. The following year, she participated in an Ecole de Paris exhibition at the Colette Dubois Gallery. Her paintings demonstrate remarkable strength and vitality, with impressionistic tendencies that continue to capture the eye of art collectors today.
