M.P - Framed c.1900 Oil Trouble While Mum Sleeps

Description

A charming turn-of-the-century painting depicting two young kittens getting up to mischief while their mother takes a much-needed nap. Well presented in a delicate gilt-effect frame with various running patterns. Initialed in the lower left 'M.P'. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Some surface restoration is noted to the oil. The canvas has been previously treated with heat, causing fine creases in the paint layer. A scattering of marks is visible across the upper half of the canvas. There is a small loss to the lower right corner of the frame and stable cracking on all rails. Historic woodworm is visible on the reverse.
