Description

A solitary figure walks along a riverside path towards a distant church, whilst trees cast hazy reflections in the placid water. The artist employs a distinctive style with impressionistic yet fine brushwork. Signed to the lower left. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

The artwork has undergone some restorative work, including canvas tear repairs and areas of overpainting. Discolouration and craquelure to the paint surface. Despite the noted imperfections, the condition is good for a picture of this age and the piece presents well. The frame is in fine condition.
