A pretty study in oil showing a nest filled with three fledglings, watching a pair of butterflies dancing just out of reach. The nest is entwined with pretty white flowers and leaves. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right corner.
The painting has been presented in an ornate, gilt effect frame with handsome acanthus leaf strapwork and a gilt slip. The canvas has been inscribed with the painting's title at the reverse.
On canvas.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor craquelure across the surface. There are several tiny losses to the paint at the lower edge, the centre of the nest and above the butterflies. The frame is in good condition with a small loss to the lower left comer and an area of restoration to the upper left.
