A beautiful Provençal plein-air painting by Louis Henri de Meuron (1868–1949), depicting gnarled olive trees in a warm, ochre-toned field beneath a soft, overcast sky. The paint is applied in a quick, impressionistic style, built up in assured layers across the canvas. Initialled lower right, and further signed and inscribed verso. On canvas.
Condition
A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Minor surface marks to the upper right-hand quadrant. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
