This fine Victorian study from the 19th century depicts a gamekeeper returning from a shoot, with grouse slung over his shoulder and guns in hand. The autumnal landscape behind is rendered with slightly expressive brushwork, creating an atmospheric backdrop to the scene. Overall the condition is very good. The painting does appear to have been cleaned and is well preserved. Some very minor marks to the frame. Signs of wear consistent with age.
