A charming scene depicting woodland mice scurrying towards blooming Iris reticulata that has sprung from the from the forest floor. The artist captures the scene in fine detail, portraying the tiny mice and foliage in a realistic style. Signed to the lower right. Presented in a ribbed gilt frame. On paper.

Artist Biography

Lesley Fotherby is a London born painter and illustrator, who studied at Bath Academy of Art, at Ravensbourne College of Art and at Leicester University. In three consecutive years from 1980 she held solo shows at the Royal Horticultural Society and has held several shows at Chris Beetles Gallery.

Lesley Fotherby has illustrated a number of books by both Michael O’Mara mostly about cats. In 2006 at Chris Beetles, she held an exhibition mainly showing works from The National Youth Ballet of Great Britain and Birmingham Royal Ballet.
