An autumnal landscape of a waterfall on Willan (or Whillan) Beck in Eskdale, Cumbria. Signed and dated to the lower-right edge. Presented glazed in a gold card mount and a gilt frame with leaf and berry detailing to the edge. Label to the verso which includes the title of the painting. Signed and dated to the lower-right edge. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some small restorations to the moulding at the corners of the frame.

Artist Biography
Cyril Ward RCA (1863-1935) was a landscape artist. He exhibited fifteen works at the Royal Academy between 1890 and 1904, including 'An Upper Reach of the Conway' (1898), 'The Stillness of the Autumn Day' (1901), and 'From the Uplands to the Sea' (1903). His address is recorded as being in Manchester but he also later lived near Alton, Hampshire.
