Description
An atmospheric nineteenth-century oil by Léon Joly de Saint-François. Two children sit on the church steps, while a woman dressed in black sits pensively on a nearby bench beneath a washing line strung under an arched doorway. The work is signed to the lower left and beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame with foliate running patterns. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Overall, the condition is good for a picture of this age. There are signs of wear, including discolouration and craquelure. There is cracking and small losses to the frame.
