This delightful country scene depicts a boy fishing at the river as the sun begins to turn shades of orange and pink at dusk. In the distance a couple pass over a wooden bridge and cows graze in the fields. Signed and dated to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On wove.

Condition

The condition is very good for a picture of this age with only small amounts of discolouration.

Artist Biography

London-born Lennard Lewis was a watercolourist and painter in oils who made a specialty of English, French and Portuguese architectural views. the exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Grosvenor Gallery and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. the also showed with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and submitted work to exhibitions in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
