Description

A delicate portrait of a young watercress seller holding a wicker basket of cress. These street sellers were common during the 18th and 19th centuries and would sell to workers early in the morning. Well presented in an oval mount and gilt effect frame. Unsigned. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor foxing. Scuffs to the frame.
