A beautifully crafted example of a Rococo revival style frame from the late 19th century. The frame boasts a carved and gilded frame with C-scrolling, center and corner diaper ornaments and hatching. With beautiful botanical details such as acanthus leaves and wild flowers surrounding the center and corner ornaments, this frame has excellent aesthetical balance.
The rebate measurement is 55.7cm x 78.2cm.
There are areas of restoration at two corners, some tarnishing to the gilt and an 8cm loss to the molding at one of the edges.
