The painting has been relined. A thick layer of stabilizing varnish has been applied, likely to stabilize the craquelure visible underneath. There is very heavy bitumen deterioration across the dark background which appears to have been heavily over painted in order to disguise the damage. The rose and hand are likely to be overprinted. The frame is in fine condition.
