Late 19th Century Oil - View of the Valley

Description

This delightful oil study follows the view a small river flowing through a valley toward distant mountains. The artist captures the scene in a loose style, conveying the movement in the gushing stream and trees blowing in the wind. The Winsor and Newton label to the reverse dates the painting to the late 19th Century and was most likely painted in the 1880's. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame with laurel and berry running pattern, a deep cove and lambs tongue moulding. On board.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and some small surface marks.
