Late 19th Century Oil - Fish Girl
Description
A fine genre scene in oil showing a young woman selling fish to another woman in a doorway, from a large basket. She is wearing a jolly, red and white striped skirt which adds structure and quirk to the painting.
The artist has initialed "P" to the lower left edge. The painting is presented in a dark wood frame with ornate acanthus leaf strapwork and carved molding.
On canvas.Condition
The painting has some areas of craquelure typical for its age. The frame has some splitting at the inner corners and two small losses to the lower edge of the inner window.
