Description

A fine 19th Century oil on wood panel, showing a woman collecting water in a pitcher from the churning waters of a watermill. The rustic buildings crowd close to the river banks and greenery frames the scene. The artist has focused light on a collection of plates, bottles and jugs at the edge of the water, waiting to be cleaned. The painting is unsigned. On wood panel.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including heavy discolouration and darkening. There is some surface scuffing and wear to the outer edges of the panel. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of restoration.
