The painting is very much in the style of a Gainsborough piece and inspiration from the 18th century artist is clear in the composition of this portrait. The woman's soft facial features and elegant dress are captured in fine detail against a dark background. Unsigned. Well presented in a wood frame with a gilt slip. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Inspection under UV light shows some restoration. There is some craquelure to the surface. Some surface dirt.
