The composition instantly draws the viewer's focus to the child's innocent expression and the tender interaction with the animal, creating a touching scene of youthful companionship. Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age including some discolouration to the varnish. Two canvas tears have been fully repaired to the reverse. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of overpainting to the surface. Various small marks and abrasions to the surface and edges of the canvas.
