Late 19th Century Oil - Continental Street Scene

Description

An attractively sized, late 19th Century oil showing a continental street scene with an impressive Cathedral or castle in the distance. A horse drawn wagon, surrounded by figures, stands in a stone square. The painting is unsigned and presented in its original, late 19th Century frame with a fluted cove and pretty, foliate strap work. On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. There are some brown marks at the upper edge, likely from aging in the fame. The frame has general surface dirtying and a loss to the upper left inner window corner and one to the lower left inner window corner.There are losses to the two upper, outer edge corners and several losses to the return upper edge. There is some splitting to the joints at all four corners.
