A finely painted and impressively sized still life depicting a woven basket full of fruit, including glaucous plums, apples, peaches, raspberries, grapes, and vines, sat on a stone plinth. A red admiral butterfly can be seen flying above the fruit to the right of the composition. Presented in a substantial silver gilt-effect wooden frame with running acanthus leaf moulding. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Inspection under UV light reveals some small areas of retouching to the upper-left edge and to the corners. Overall in excellent condition.
