A charming depiction of a cobbled street in the Netherlands, with figures starting their day by washing clothes and taking a stroll. The artist has followed the traditional 19th century style of Dutch street painting, focusing on the architectural details and dramatic clouded skies. Presented in a fine gilt-effect frame with repeat foliate border and bead course. Signed to the lower left. On panel.
Condition
There is a fine 3cm scratch on the surface of the oil in the top left quadrant. A white speck of gesso can be seen to the right of this scratch. Otherwise in fine condition with no signs of restoration.
