Description

An atmospheric oil painting by Belgian artist Piet Lippens (1890–1981), depicting a dimly lit workshop with a carpenter's bench positioned beneath a double window, with tools laid out ready for use. Rendered in a muted palette of greys, browns, and touches of green, the loose, impressionistic brushwork captures the quiet ambience of the interior. Presented in a gilt-effect frame with painted slip. Signed lower right. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. Minor abrasions to the surface of the artwork. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
