A very fine dramatic seascape with ships attempting to escape an approaching tornado. A later inscription with initials to the reverse, presumably taken from an inscription on the original album page. Unsigned. On wove.Condition
Condition is typical for a picture of this age with some minor discolouration and foxing, but overall the appearance is very good.

Collection Information
From a 19th century album of very fine Victorian watercolours and graphite drawings by members of the Buckley family, who were an artistic Irish family originally from Cork. Featuring works by Charles Frederick Buckley (1812-1869), John Edmund Buckley (1820-1884), W. R Buckley and others. An original inscription in the album reads 'Mrs Holdernesse - the gift of her affectionate brother C F Buckley.
