A wonderful mid Century floral still life, showing a vibrant and richly textured display of dahlias in a Constance Spry style vase on a plinth. The flowers tumble over each other and flop over the rim of the vase with their vibrant petals in delicate pom pom like shapes. The muted greyish background makes the colours sing out. The artist has signed to the lower left and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century brushed gilt frame. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are several canvas repairs to the reverse which have been restored at the front. There is some craquelure to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of restoration.
