A humorous etching by the artist Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt (1895-1977) depicting the meeting of an unusual group of birds. Signed to the lower right. Presented in a gilt frame with a delicate running pattern to the inner edge. On paper.

Condition

There is some discolouration to the paper. Wear to the frame, including a small loss to the lower left.

Artist Biography

Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt was born in Leipzig in 1865 and died in Munich in 1977. He studied at the Weimar Academy of Fine Arts under Lyonel Feininger and Theodor Hagen. Declining a professorship at Weimar, he went to Munich where he decided to work on producing engravings of animals. Since 1917 he had been published by Hanfstaengl in Munich, a copper print shop, who owned the copyright of his archive and other artists.
